The programme has been announced for the COP26 summit in Glasgow this November. While the topics to be debated include finance, energy, transport and science, there is no slot specifically to discuss the global food system.
Animal agriculture alone contributes as much to global warming as transport, with additional impacts on food and water poverty, human health and environmental destruction. The session entitled Nature promises a negotiation described as "Ensuring the importance of nature and sustainable land use are part of global action on climate change and a clean, green recovery."
Without discussing food in its own right, how will the delegates be encouraged to make any meaningful change to this most urgent of sectors?
