Back in 2016, Cambridge University stopped serving beef and lamb in its dining venues. Then, in 2018, the colleges agreed to apply the same principle to their individual dining halls, leading the university to claim a 33% reduction in carbon emissions from food production.
Now, the library's tearoom is dropping beed and lamb from its menu, promoting instead vegan and vegetarian options in order to promote sustainable eating and limit emissions further.
Vegan Conservatives' Graham Godwin-Pearson says, "Universities play an important role in shaping the values of our young people. Cambridge University's step to promote non-meat alternatives is another step in the right direction."
